Recruiting: Dead period is over, so here’s a log of Thursday’s recruiting news

The NCAA dead period ended on Wednesday at midnight, so the recruiting frenzy is on.

A lot of colleges dropped by high schools in Palm Beach County on Thursday to look at some of the area’s top prospects. Here is what you need to know. We will update the list as we get more news.

- 2014 Dwyer S Shawn Boone will get an in-home visit from NC State on Thursday. Maryland is expected to visit Boone’s home on Friday. Boone has narrowed down his list to Penn State, Arkansas and NC State.

- FAU visited Village Academy to check on 2014 DE Kevin Bronson on Thursday morning. Nebraska and Virginia Tech are expected to drop by Village Academy to see Bronson on Thursday afternoon. According to a source, Nebraska and Virginia Tech have the best chance at landing Bronson, but FAU is not out of the race because of Bronson’s “real good” relationship with new Owls coach Charlie Partridge. Bronson expects to announce his college decision before National Signing Day, possibly on Feb. 2 after his official visit to Virginia Tech.

- FSU is visiting Cardinal Newman on Thursday to check in on 2014 WR Travis Rudolph, a Seminoles verbal commit.

- FAU is visiting Cardinal Newman on Thursday to look at the Crusaders’ 2015 class.

- FAU is expected to visit Pahokee on Thursday to talk to 2014 ATH Rashaun Croney and 2014 DB Jay Hopson.

- 2014 Boynton Beach WR Darrian Josey left for his official visit to Hawaii on Thursday morning. He is considering Western Kentucky and Hawaii.

- 2014 King’s Academy K Paul Schumacher is taking an official visit to Gardner-Webb this weekend.

- 2014 King’s Academy DB/ATH Nate Cannon was offered opportunity to walk-on at FAU. Cannon is a dynamic athlete that impressed as a senior. According to King’s Academy coach Heath Nivens, FAU is in the lead for Cannon. Cannon wants to play D-1 football.

- Miami (Ohio) dropped by Dwyer to see 2014 WR Ezra Saffold and 2014 RB Alonzo Smith. FAU also visited Dwyer to see Smith.

- Miami DB coach Paul Williams visited Park Vista on Thursday to speak with 2014 S Marques Gayot, a Hurricanes verbal commit.

- Davidson visited Oxbridge Academy on Thursday to talk to 2014 QB Steven DeMeo. Also, Coastal Carolina passed by Oxbridge Academy on Thursday to visit with 2014 CB Deandre Brinson.

- 2014 Santaluces WR Darrell Langham, a Hurricanes verbal commit, is expected to visit Miami this weekend, according to Chiefs coach Jason Bradley.
